Crash Summary: Driver Ignores Stop Sign, Triggers Multi-Vehicle Accident
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Sierrha S. Younger of Dubuque, Iowa, was traveling westbound on County Highway W when she failed to stop at a marked stop sign at the intersection with County Highway O. Her Hyundai Santa Fe collided with a southbound Chevrolet Equinox, operated by 61-year-old Sally T. Montgomery of Shullsburg.
The force of the crash pushed Younger’s SUV into a 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which had been properly stopped at the western side of the intersection. The Trailblazer was driven by 19-year-old Lillian L. Fifer of DeKalb, Illinois.
Both Fifer and her 21-year-old passenger from Alabama sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Galena. Montgomery and her 61-year-old passenger were also hospitalized at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. All three vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene.
