A four-vehicle accident took place on March 19, 2023, on Route 47, just north of Galena Road in Yorkville. The crash was allegedly caused by Jose Montenegro-Garcia, a 44-year-old man from Aurora, who was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to reports, Montenegro-Garcia’s vehicle was heading north on Route 47 when it crossed the center line and sideswiped two other vehicles. Subsequently, his vehicle collided head-on with another, causing all four vehicles to end up in Rob Roy Creek, which runs parallel to Route 47 north of Galena Road.
Fortunately, the water level in the creek was very low at the time of the accident, preventing any of the vehicles from becoming submerged. None of the motorists or passengers were trapped in their vehicles. Six people suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. Four of the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, including Montenegro-Garcia, while two others were released at the scene of the crash.
Following the incident, Montenegro-Garcia was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. After receiving treatment for his minor injuries, he was taken to the Kendall County jail in Yorkville for booking. It is reported that Montenegro-Garcia has since posted bond and been released.
This accident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of driving under the influence and the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
