The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Monday evening involving a collision between a semi-truck and a delivery van. The crash took place around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Plank and Lukens Roads in Sycamore Township, leaving one person dead.
Upon arrival, first responders found both vehicles had veered off the road and into a north-side ditch. Authorities discovered the driver of the 2023 Ford delivery van, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, dead at the scene. The driver of the 2014 International Truck was fortunately uninjured. Preliminary reports indicate that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office are jointly overseeing an ongoing investigation into this devastating event. Authorities have yet to release the identities of either driver, pending further investigation.
